We kicked off our road trip through California by driving up from L.A. to Joshua Tree national park. I’ve heard a lot about this place through climbers but never expected to visit.
We hiked through desert landscapes that glowed in the sun past innumerable flowers and alien Joshua Trees, scrambled through granite canyons and over rocky outcrops and marvelled at views down into the dry and dusty Colorado desert. In the evenings we enjoyed delicious American beers, grilled kebabs and made baked potatoes on a log fire before gorging on s'mores and sleeping beneath the cold desert air surrounded by stars.
The Californian desert is an amazing place with views I never expected to see and appreciate. Anyone who loves the outdoors should visit.
